Gaza - Representatives of the two main factions in the Palestinian arena, the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, and the Palestinian National Liberation Movement, Fatah, held a meeting at the house of the Hamas prominent political leader, Dr. Mahmoud al-Zahhar, Saturday to discuss some crucial Palestinian issues.Some Hamas political leaders were present in the meeting, including Sheikh Ismail Hania, Sheikh Sa'eed Siyam, Dr. Nezar Rayyan, and Sami Abu Zuhri, the Movement's spokesman in Gaza, while Fatah was represented by members of its recruitment office, including Abdul Rahman Hamad, Ahmed Hellis, and Sameer Mashharawi.Abu Zhuri described the meeting as positive and discussed three main topics, the Israeli pullout, the legislative elections, and the employment issue."We have agreed on a specific mechanism to form a national committee that will handle the Israeli pullout file and we expect this committee to be formed soon", Abu Zuhri said."As for the elections' issue, we have agreed with our brothers in Fatah to lay down certain headlines that will ensure honesty and transparency during the election process and we might come to a common base regarding this matter within two days", he added.He, however, revealed that the employment process in the PA's institutions must be reorganized and based on aptitude and not on political affiliation of the applicant, affirming that the conferees have, unanimously, agreed on the right of citizenship of all Palestinians and their equal right in job opportunities far from security apparatus's scrutiny.Abu Zhuri expressed his hope that what have been agreed upon in the meeting will be implemented on the ground affirming his movement's concern to create a united and secured Palestinian people, especially in the post-pullout stage.For his part, Ahmed Hellis clarified that the two Movements had discussed and agreed on most of the essential issues concerning the Palestinian factions and people, and emphasized on the necessity to expedite the formation of the national committee."We have our own vision on this committee and we will present this vision before the Islamic and nationalist follow up committee to form it so as to commence its missions", he underlined.He further affirmed that a special committee will tackle all aspects of the next elections round, including date and disciplinary measures that will ensure democratic and transparent election.
